About this Event

With the recent events and travel put on hold, ‘SheTravel’ and ‘Girls on Travel’ have collaborated to bring you a special evening of talks and a Q&A session with three expert speakers covering everything from solo cycling in Australia, mental resilience and coping mechanism to the secrets of travelling on your own on a budget. This is a unique event open to all, meant to cheer us up and inspire us, exploring the theme of female travel, inspiring attendees to discover new regions of the globe and plan their next adventures with confidence.

Speakers:

Anne Imakumbili – Writer – Solo Traveller

Anne is a London based marketing professional and writer who has been travelling solo since 2016. She has managed to travel to 8 countries in 4 years while having a full-time job since deciding to hit the road solo.

Hoping to inspire women, she is now writing a travel guide, due to be released in the fall. #PassportReady: The Ultimate Guide To Solo Female Travel, will be the go-to guide for intrepid women who want to go it alone, but may have some reservations.

During the webinar, Anne will share her top travel tips and the secrets to travelling on a budget and with a full-time job.

Alecia Emerson Thomas – Mental Health Champion – Adventurer – Risk Consultant

Alecia is a Media Personality, Risk Consultant and former Police Officer who enjoys public speaking engagements and presenting at live events. She uses her public platform to support and uplift others by sharing her own personal story.

She currently divides her time between her new business, Social Media Management company ‘Blue Fly Media’, Media Comms, Travel Risk Consultancy, volunteering for several charities and appearing on Sky One’s hit show, ‘The Heist’.

Alecia has been through many tough challenges mentally from almost losing a son to a brain injury, three mental health breakdowns, caring for a husband with Complex PTSD and caring for a relative with Dementia.

Her life journey has been a rollercoaster that she has navigated often without a route map. She credits her passion for the outdoors and adventure with saving her, both mentally and physically.

Alex Mason – Hiker – Biker – Graphic Designer

Alex mason is a graphic designer turned long term multi-discipline adventurer.

Over the last 5 years Alex has hiked 10,000 miles on long-distance trails, cycled 4,000 miles across Australia and Indonesia, climbed up to 6,500 metres and rowed over 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean, gaining 2 world records along the way.

In 2017, after hiking the length of New Zealand on the Te Araroa, Alex wasn’t quite ready to return home and made a spur of the moment decision fly to Sydney, buy a bicycle, and cycle to Darwin. On her own. Across a country bigger than Europe.
